Making her debut on Hike & Seek today is my baby Albino Ball Python: Popcorn! She's approximately 6 months old now, and one of my favorite things to do is decorate her terrarium. There are countless photos and forum posts about reptile cage setups and decor, but I have yet to come across anything outside of the standard/natural decor style. Since I already love giving Popcorn terrarium makeovers, I thought February would be the perfect time to introduce a feature like this! Are you ready? Here we go!
When I first started keeping reptiles, which was 10 years ago, I was all about aspen bedding and little log hides that you see in the reptile department of pet stores. It's standard and it's what I learned to set up my terrariums with. Now, you may not know this about me...but I am a glitter loving little girl at heart. When I find a way to make something look cute...I cute it up. The first time I used Carefresh for my snakes, it wasn't cute. I had depleted my supply of Aspen bedding one day, and because I used Carefresh for my pet rats, I decided to try it out. At the time I was using the brown color, which matched perfectly with the accessories I had. I quickly realized that it was very absorbent, easy to clean, and my snakes looked happy on it. I decided to keep using it, and eventually I started trying different colors which led me to incorporating other cute/colorful accessories. I've been using Carefresh for many years now, and I'll probably never switch to anything else. In my opinion, it's absolutely perfect for snakes. I picked up this adorable little hide in the small animal department at Petco recently. I have a larger one for my adult ball python, and they love them. I really like that it says "sleephouse". How cute is that?! For the background, I taped pink scrapbook sheets to the back and sides on the outside of the glass. I then used foam stickers that I found in the Valentines Day section of Joann's to stick to the inside of the glass. These stickers are incredibly durable by the way. I removed one of them to re-position it, and for a second I thought it wasn't going to come off! In addition to the stickers, I also picked out a "Be Mine" bowl at Joann's to use as her water dish!
After doing a bit of exploring and letting out a big yawn-she decided it was sleep time and headed into her Sleep House.
I hope you enjoyed having a peek into Popcorn's terrarium! I plan on doing another post like this in March, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
I'm not a huge fan of snakes. They kind of creep me out, but she is kind of cute. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Stephanie :) My mom has always hated my love of snakes. I showed her these photos hoping she would think they were at least a little bit cute...but no luck-she still said "ughhh" haha!
DeleteOh my gosh! Worlds cutest terrarium award goes to...Popcorn!!
ReplyDeleteShe is stunning and has the best Mam ever for giving her such a cool place to live haha.

DeleteThis. Is. ADORABLE.
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you!
DeleteI showed these to my husband because I thought they were so cute. His reaction was to ask if he could photoshop that one picture of Popcorn with her mouth open to look like she is rising up from a fiery furnace to eat someone.
ReplyDeleteHahaha that's hilarious! Of course! Have fun :)
DeleteOh my gosh, this is the most adorable thing! I just recently got a guinea pig, and now I am obsessed with decorating his cage and buying him cute little things- I definitely need to take some photos like this.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Popcorn is the cutest thing ever! :)
