Backyard Adventure // Cardinals
For the first (and most likely only) time this Winter season, we got some snow and ice on Monday! I'm not a big fan of cold weather, but I sat out in the cold with no gloves until I couldn't feel my fingers anymore to get these photos :) I have gloves somewhere, but I've only worn them once or twice this season and can't remember where they are. It's just been too warm!

Backyard Adventure // Mediterranean House Gecko
Every year when the weather starts to warm up, our front porch becomes home to dozens of Mediterranean House Geckos. They're a nocturnal species, which means we typically only ever see them at night-but while doing a bit of work outside, this one was found under a small leaf pile. As someone who is obsessed with all things reptile, I couldn't resist handling it for a few photos :) After jumping from my hand to my shirt a few times, it finally settled down and seemed content hanging out on my hand and wrist for a while.

Backyard Adventure // Spiders and Stuff
While doing a bit of yard work Friday afternoon, Matthew and I ran across so many spiders! Creepy crawlies don't usually creep me out, but I will admit that spiders have a way of making me jump :) If I know they're there, like I did while shooting these-then I'm fine. It's just the ones that sneak up on me that send me running away haha! Despite missing two front legs on the right side, the spider in the following two photos didn't seem to have any trouble moving around. S(he) slowed down enough to let me snap these photos.

On The Trail // Caprock Nature Trail
Yesterday was perfect. I couldn't have asked for better weather for spending a couple of hours at the Fort Worth Nature Center. Temps in the high 60's, overcast skies, and the most amazing breeze ever haha!

At The Park // Looking Forward
Matthew and I took Brandi to the park again yesterday, and she had so much fun splashing through the water. I know I'm probably sounding like a broken record by now, but I seriously am so ready for Spring to be here! I need green things, and insects, and all sorts of wildlife surprises!

NARBC // February 2015
Over the weekend, I attended the NARBC show (North American Reptile Breeder's Conference) in Arlington, and as always...I had a blast. I had planned on purchasing a new terrarium for my Ball Python-Oliver, but the ATM had trouble reading my card so I ended up spending what little I had on a Texas Rattlesnake Festival bracelet and a cash donation to Nature's Edge Wildlife Rescue! Making donations always makes me feel so great-and I'm happy I was able to give something. A bonus to visiting these shows is that most of the time you get a coupon for 500 free mealworms or crickets! I'm stocked for a while :)

Terrarium Decor // February 2015
Making her debut on Hike & Seek today is my baby Albino Ball Python: Popcorn! She's approximately 6 months old now, and one of my favorite things to do is decorate her terrarium. There are countless photos and forum posts about reptile cage setups and decor, but I have yet to come across anything outside of the standard/natural decor style. Since I already love giving Popcorn terrarium makeovers, I thought February would be the perfect time to introduce a feature like this! Are you ready? Here we go!

At The Park // A New Favorite
While taking our dog Brandi for a walk at one of the local parks yesterday, we decided to veer off the trail and trek out into the woods to see what we could find....and we found a really awesome little creek! I knew it was there, but I think the last time we visited was in the summer...which meant it was all dried up for the most part. My battery died just after I took this photo, but I do love the photos I was able to get! Note to self: buy a backup battery to keep charged and ready at all times.
