Life Lately // Catching Up

Life has been, for the lack of a better word, crazy.  My work hours shot up at the end of December due to an unexpected change in staff, and I'm finding it so difficult to accomplish anything outside of work.  I've been hiking only a handful of times, haven't even considered touching my camera for the most part, and have gained back nearly 10 pounds that I had lost before Thanksgiving!  Ughhh!  But, this isn't a rant post, I don't like doing that...so instead I'll catch you up on a few things that I HAVE been up to :)

Life Lately

In my previous post (in late JUNE! What?!!), I shared a lot about being unhappy and wanting to change things.  There were (and still are) so many things about the way I'm living my life that I wanted to change.  I wasn't able to get anything done or stay motivated, because it all became so overwhelming.  I can't believe I never considered it before, but letting go of everything else just to focus on one thing has seriously been THE best decision.

Time To Reflect

After what seems like an eternity of being away from Lady Serpentine, I'm happy to announce that I'm back!  These past few weeks have been a much needed time for me to reflect on life-the things I want to do as well as the things that I don't.  I took a step back from everything (I didn't even touch my camera this whole time) and just let myself have time to do nothing but think about things.  I feel like I was letting myself sink into a funk, but I'm beginning to feel much better :)

One thing that I came out of this "funk" with, is the want and need to DO more.  Over the past few years, I think I've let living get away from me.  There have been too many instances where I've thought about doing something, only to tell myself that I'll "start tomorrow" but I never actually do it.  I was flipping through my photo archives recently and came across some photo from when I used to be a beekeeper.

Life Lately // Laundry Days

 A few months back, our dryer decided to call it quits, and since we didn't want to rush out and buy a new one-we've resorted to line-drying our clothes.  And let me tell you-we LOVE it!  Now, it's been raining a lot here lately-so we've been having to take everything to the laundromat.  The rain seems to have cleared out for the rest of the week though, so yesterday we hung out laundry outside.  It's so relaxing and I honestly never want to invest in a dryer.  Never.  *I'll be whistling a different tune once winter rolls around.  But until then....*

Sweet Valentines Goodies // Catching up on some research!

I didn't intend on waiting a whole month to do another Life Lately post, but oh well!  This will be a fun little round up of February :)  Matthew got me a cute little Sonny Angel doll that I've been wanting to start collecting.  Isn't it cute!?  Along with the doll, he also got me a a ginormous Amphibians and Reptiles of Texas book and a big bag of Lush bath goodies.  I've been reading up on that book as well as the Texas Bug Book, both of which are going to be a huge help for knowing and finding my subjects this spring :)

My blog content has been almost exclusively nature photography.  I'd like to incorporate a bit more every now and then, and am starting off with a glimpse of what I do when I'm not out scouting for things to take photos of!  Here we go!
