For the past few months, I've been intent on saving and purchasing a 105mm macro lens, but with the cool weather and lack of wildlife photo ops, I decided I would be better off ordering a new zoom lens! I still plan on adding the 105mm to my gear collection sometime this year, but I'm so happy with my choice to get the zoom lens. I ended up saving a few hundred dollars, and I can now take photos like the one above without disturbing the subject! Yay!
My dream zoom lens is the 70-200 f2.8, but I'm not even close to having something like that in my budget this year. I ended up going with the 70-300 f4.8-5.6 which was a lot more affordable. I'm so happy with it so far!
Unless the weather is bad, I'm planning on taking it to the zoo sometime this weekend and I'm beyond excited about it :)

What's your most recent lens purchase?
Awesome shots!!! The colors in the last photo's backdrop - gorgeous. <3 And you are just in time for the Great Backyard Bird Count, too!
ReplyDeleteMy most recent lens purchase was a new 50mm - I upgraded from the 1.8 to the 1.4. Wasn't even that long ago and I already have my eye on my next one! I guess that is just part of loving photography - you always want new gear to play with. I swear I actually need this one though. My telephoto is about to fall apart so it'll be a justified purchase. :D
Thank you!!! I'm constantly adding lenses and accessories to my wish list, and now that I've purchased this lens, I'm thinking I might upgrade my camera body next :)
DeleteI love these photos. I have a zoom lens (Canon) similar to yours. I also want to get a macro lens, but they are so expensive!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The macro that I have my heart set on is over $900! Ouch!
DeleteAwesome shots! Always nice to see someone else in blog land who likes birds! I too have the 70-300mm for my Nikon, it's my favorite lens.
